MEET MIKE

Pompeo For CongressMike Pompeo is a Kansas businessman, decorated Army officer, husband and father who understands firsthand the challenges of balancing a family budget and operating a business. With a son who has graduated from Wichita High School East and a successful business career, Mike and his wife Susan have always made time for public service, contributing their time and resources to church, the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce and community groups throughout South Central Kansas. Now a Republican candidate for U.S. Congress, Mike is prepared to devote his vision and leadership to an improved quality of life for Kansans and Americans.

After leaving the army, Mike returned to the academic world at the highest level, becoming a student at Harvard Law School where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. After graduating with honors, Mike worked for a prestigious law firm before deciding to move to Kansas to start his career as a businessman and entrepreneur. With family living in Wichita, Winfield, and Andover and it was only natural for Mike to come to Kansas to pursue the American dream. After all, he had spent many of the summers of his youth on the farm of his relatives here in south central Kansas.

Upon arriving in Wichita, Mike went to work building a thriving business, founding Thayer Aerospace with three partners. In less than a decade, Mike helped grow this company to more than 500 total team members and a ranking as one of the five largest aviation sub-contractors in South Central Kansas. As Chief Executive Officer of Thayer Aerospace, Mike learned first hand how to meet a large payroll, provide value to customers and the challenge of growing jobs while complying with government regulations and burdensome taxes.

In 2006, Mike sold his interest in Thayer Aerospace and soon thereafter became President of Sentry International, an independent business that is engaged in the manufacture and sale of equipment used in oilfield and industrial applications around the globe. Mike has dedicated his efforts to many civic causes in both Wichita and Kansas, serving on the board of the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Orpheum Theatre and the YMCA. He has also served as a trustee for the Flint Hills Center for Public Policy, a conservative think tank dedicated to the Constitutional principles of limited government, individual freedom and personal responsibility.
